ABOUT SEATTLE ANGELS:

Seattle Angels is a foster care non-profit that was created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. We are a community of people that walk alongside children experiencing foster care and their caretakers. We do this by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. Our solution to the foster care crisis is the Love Box and Dare to Dream Program(s). Our program(s) utilizes a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between youth, foster families, and bio-families. Our volunteers are everyday people that sponsor a local foster family with monthly care packages to meet practical needs, while spending quality time with the whole family to build a positive community. They are changing the way kids and parents experience the foster care system. At Seattle Angels we believe in the power of love, the value of friendship, and the importance of positive role models in the lives of children and youth involved in foster care.

DARE TO DREAM:

Our Dare to Dream program is an opportunity to individually serve a youth in foster care, ages ranging from 11-22. Our mentors are advocates, coaches, role models, valued friends, and available resources. The heart of the Dare to Dream program is to walk alongside these youth as they navigate through life's challenges. They need the wisdom, advice, encouragement, and community that you can provide. Mentors meet practical and emotional needs as well as provide guidance through developmental milestones. The hope is for youth to be engaged, feel supported and equipped to navigate life. As a mentor you commit to meeting with your mentee every other week, set goals, and help them achieve their dreams. These relationships will hopefully last a lifetime, but the program is a year commitment.

Meetup might look like: Grabbing coffee to help them create a resume and follow up the next meet up to ask where they applied. From there you might help them pick out an interview outfit and go over practice questions. Meetups can happen anywhere but usually it is at the youth's home/shelter or a public location. We also encourage our mentors to plan fun outings such as treating the youth to dinner at a local restaurant, movie theater, etc. You will be amazed at how the simple act of telling them, "I believe in you," "You are special," and "You are going to do great things," could change their path completely.

Save the life of a child. Are you looking to evolve your purpose in life? Consider joining a board for a non-profit that is driven by a singular mission with a huge impact:

The Gift of Adoption Fund seeks to fill the void that separates child from family through adoption completion grants, giving vulnerable children a permanent home and the chance to thrive.

Gift of Adoption is a national 501(c)(3) that provides the final funds that prospective adoptive parents need to complete the adoptions of vulnerable children from within the U.S. and from around the world.

Networking and fundraising are the primary responsibilities of board members.

To fundraise, we organize fun social events, online campaigns and more. The board currently consists of professionals who volunteer their time and connections to further the cause. You can live anywhere in the state but are expected to participate in monthly calls and, ideally, quarterly in-person meetings. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to completing families' adoptions in your state.

We are a team of smart, dedicated (and, we like to think, fun!) people who believe that a loving family is a basic human right.

We are looking for Board Members who:

- Are passionate about volunteering to help children.

- Have creative fundraising ideas and the motivation and social network to make them happen!

- Are connected to and/or interested in outreach to the local business community.

- Enjoy connecting people and finding partnership opportunities.

- Are comfortable reaching out to their network of family and friends about a good cause.

- Have strong communication skills, and are highly organized.

- Want a volunteer opportunity that makes a permanent difference!

We expect that you will:

- Help plan and attend fundraising events.

- Work with the other board members to collectively raise money to fund adoptions.

- Participate in one board call a month.

- Attend a quarterly in-person meeting.

-Make a personal donation each year that you serve on the board, and meet a fundraising goal.

- Help recruit other board members to join the mission.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk!

Reach out to us today with the following information:

 1. Why are you interested in the Gift of Adoption?
